State Representative Don Jones (R-Freeport) shared that $927,000 will be allocated to Scio and Harrisville for water projects in Harrison County. The funds are part of grants totaling over $5 million from the Development Services Agency (DSA) to support 11 projects in Ohio.

“I’m appreciative to see funds from the state’s Community Development Critical Infrastructure Program be dispersed in Harrison County to benefit our citizen through these extensive water projects in the villages of Scio and Harrisville,” said Jones.

$489,100 will be used for Scio’s new clarifier and generators at the wastewater plant, benefiting 870 people. Meanwhile, $437,900 will aid Harrisville’s wastewater treatment system, benefiting 260 individuals.

The Community Development Critical Infrastructure Program falls under the DSA’s Community Development Program. It aims to assist communities with high-priority projects like roads, flood and drainage systems, and public infrastructure improvements with significant community-wide impact. The current grants are designated for flood and drainage, water and sewer facilities, and bridge projects.
