Harrison Recreation Commission and The District volunteers have put more than a dozen events on the calendar for 2023.
The Rec Commission plans several annual events that are family-oriented. The Commission’s goal is to enhance and improve the quality of living in Harrison and create a culture that fosters good will, neighborly exchange and family enjoyment.
Annual events planned by the Recreation Commission include Easter Celebration, Summer Concerts at the Community Center, Fourth of July Parade and Fireworks, Spooktacular and Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting. Details for these events will be added to the City Calendar as they become available.
In the spring, the Rec Commission will also provide information about Summer Fun, a half-day program for children in kindergarten through fifth grade.
The District, an association of downtown businesses, is scheduling events in the historic downtown district. The Harrison Food Truck Rally (May 20) and The Taste of Harrison (Sept. 9) are two of The District’s signature events that draw thousands of people downtown. The District will also bring back newer events like Music on the Avenue and Ladies Night on the Avenue that have gained popularity. Harrison Avenue is closed to traffic during these events.
The District events have also been added to the City Calendar.
