At the Feb. 28 meeting, City Council recognized Ben Capodagli, owner of Cappy’s Wine and Spirits. Mayor Kathy Bailey proclaimed February 2023 a month of celebration as Cappy’s celebrated its 15th anniversary.

In 2008, Capodagli purchased Butch’s Carryout and transformed it into a unique pint and bottle shop. The store has identified itself as a craft beer, wine, and liquor destination. As the business and brand grew, Capodagli worked to become the first state liquor agency in the State of Ohio to serve pints of beer while you shop. Eventually, a patio was added to the store to accommodate the growing number of patrons.

Cappy’s prides itself in giving back to the community. Through the years, Cappy’s has hosted and contributed to fundraisers for Loveland Schools, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, ALS, Cancerfree Kids, and many more.

“Ben always felt it was important to intertwine Cappy’s with the fabric of the community. Ben is a strong supporter of the City of Loveland and city events. This is the one thing Ben is most proud of…turning a dingy old bait shop liquor store into not only a premier bottle shop destination but a place that contributes to the community where it exists. Making Cappy’s a place where everyone knows your name,” stated Mayor Kathy Bailey.
