Please read the Accommodation Letter below about four of our very own, outstanding, Cheviot Firemen.
Sending many prayers and quick healing to the young man and his family!

Chief Klein,
I am honored to write a letter for accommodation for efforts and teamwork well above the call of duty that were displayed by Engineers Richter, Sweeney, and LeCount this morning at a mutual aid entrapment in Green Township. Their efforts played a great role and had an extraordinary impact on our ability to safely remove and transfer a gentleman to the trauma team at University Hospital.
Engine 16 was dispatched to Green Twp. to assist in dislodging a young man who had fallen into an industrial food processing machine. I personally have never seen the level of trauma that this man sustained in a living soul, nor have I been a part of an extrication that was so complex, tedious, emotionally rigorous, and physically demanding. I add these details to shine a light on the fact of just how determined and competent Engineers Richter, Sweeney, and LeCount were in trying to save this man’s life and in being high-functioning members of a team where everyone was doing something to contribute to this great cause.
“Risk a lot to save a lot” is a motto that we as Firefighters live by. This morning, a soul was there to save and I witnessed this motto come alive in the focused efforts, tremendous commitment, and selfless acts of these three fine men. We do not know the outcome yet, but I know we did our best and I am honored to work alongside and help lead these gentlemen. Engineers Richter, Sweeney, and LeCount represent the caliber of men and women that the City of Cheviot strives to employ and promote.
With calm professionalism, excellent teamwork, and tremendous effort these men risked their lives to save another. I could not be more proud! They are more than deserving of this accommodation.
Respectfully,
David Miller, Captain
City of Cheviot Fire Department
